Wine Shelves and Tobacco Showcases

Wine Shelves, Wooden Wine Racks, Cabinet Wine Shelf Runs and Tobacco Showcases

Two departments that live in one fixture family: wine wants to be seen and reached, tobacco wants to be seen and locked. The build follows from which of the two it is.

Full Range

Wine Shelf And Showcase Builds

Four builds, photographed in our own studio. A wine display cabinet is judged on two things a shelving bay is not: whether a bottle can be taken out without disturbing the ones beside it, and whether the display still looks full when it is half empty. Both are decided by the shelf, not by the cabinet.

Wine wall with lattice bottle storage

A full-height wine wall: lit upper shelves for the bottles on show, and a diamond lattice below holding stock on its side, which is where the reserve lives without leaving the display.

Wine gondola with header panels

A black frame carrying timber bottle shelves, with printed header panels above each bay so a region or a grape can be named without a shelf ticket doing all the work.

Stepped wine and spirits display bay

A black frame bay with stepped shelves and header panels, built so the back row of bottles clears the front row rather than hiding behind it.

Wine run with mobile end crates

A steel run with timber shelves and low crate units on castors at the end, so an offer can be wheeled to the front of the store and wheeled back without dismantling the run.

Tobacco display is regulated differently in almost every market we ship to, so the glazing and locking on these builds is specified per order rather than assumed. Tell us the rule you are working to and we build to it. Colour is a RAL or PANTONE reference held across the order.

Send the length of the wine run and say whether tobacco sits in the same block. If it does, tell us the display rule you have to meet locally.

How Long Is Your Wine Run?

Every question below is one we would have to ask you anyway. Answering them now takes a round trip out of the quotation.

Your enquiry goes to keshun@kssyt.com. Floor plans, CAD files and photographs of a store you like are all welcome — a hand sketch on paper is enough to start.

Buyer Questions

Wine Shelf And Wine Rack Questions

Seven things buyers ask before they order a wine department. If yours is not here, put it in the message box above and it gets answered with the quotation. For what to send us before a wine wall is drawn, read Specifying a Custom Wine Display Cabinet.

What size are your supermarket wine shelves?

The two wine builds on record, KS-YJG-01 and wineRack-Y01, are both made to the wall rather than sold in fixed sizes, so we do not publish a size table for this category. Wine runs are drawn against the length you have and the bottle count you want to display, and the figures come back with the quotation.

Should bottles stand up or lie in a lattice?

Both, usually in the same fixture. Standing bottles show their label and shop quickly, so they go at eye level. A lattice holds several times more per square metre and still looks full when it is half empty, so it goes below the display as the reserve. A wine wall that does only one of the two is either hard to read or hard to keep stocked.

Can you build a lockable tobacco showcase?

Yes, and this is the one category where we ask for your regulation before quoting. Tobacco display rules differ in almost every market we ship to, from full visibility behind glass to a closed shutter that only opens for staff. Tell us the rule you are working to and the glazing and locking are built to meet it.

Do you make custom wooden wine racks?

Yes. Wine is the category customers most often send a drawing for, because a wine wall is usually a feature rather than a fixture. Lattice pattern, bay width, lighting and header panels are all drawn to your plan. A CAD file, a dimensioned sketch or a photograph of a shop you like is enough to start.

Why do wine shelves need to be stronger than ordinary shelves?

Load per metre. A metre of standing bottles weighs several times what a metre of packaged dry goods weighs, and unlike a box a bottle concentrates that weight on a small footprint. Shelves sit on a steel frame rather than on pins alone, and every shelf carries a lip so a round bottle cannot roll off when the bay is knocked.

Can a wine run match the rest of the store?

Yes, and it is the usual request. Colour is quoted as a RAL or PANTONE reference and held across every category on the order, so the wine run, the shelving and the checkout leave the plant in one shade. Wine walls are often specified in a darker version of the store timber for contrast.

What is the difference between a wine display rack and wine shelving?

A wine display rack presents the bottle label out, on angled shelves or in individual cells. Wine shelving stores it — usually in a diamond lattice, lying down, which is correct for anything corked and far denser. A real wine wall uses both, and this page shows them stacked in the order a shopper reads them.
