Commercial Equipment Projects We Have Delivered

Whole-Store Fit Outs Across China, Batch Export Orders To The Middle East, Europe And South America

Twelve projects from the last two years, with what was supplied, how much of it, and how it left the plant.

What This Page Shows

Whole-Store And Batch Orders Keshun Has Built

Below are some of the projects delivered over the last two years: whole-store packages for supermarket chains in China, and batch export orders for retail channels in the Middle East, Europe and South America.

Sizes, colours and fittings on every one of them were confirmed against the store's own drawings or the customer's written specification before anything was cut. What is set out below is an approach you can borrow from rather than a fixed list, and every category named on the cards is built in our own plant at Changshu and appears in the full catalogue.

Customer names are commercial information and we do not publish them, so each project is identified by store type, region and year instead. What the card carries is the part we can stand behind: which categories went out, how many, and how the goods were packed and delivered.

Supermarket Chain — Jinhua, Zhejiang East China

Supermarket Chain — Jinhua, Zhejiang

A whole-store fit out. The front end, the fresh zone, dry goods and the wine display were supplied in one batch, with self-checkout bays built into the lane run. Column-wrap shelving was cut to the pitch measured on site, so nothing had to be pieced together out of standard sections with a gap left showing.

Supermarket Chain — Yongkang, Zhejiang East China

Supermarket Chain — Yongkang, Zhejiang

The whole front-end circulation was renewed. Counter lengths were set by the number of lanes and the queue each one had to hold, and the entrance produce tables and the locker bank were powder coated in the same batch so they matched the store's main colour exactly.

Supermarket Chain — Taicang, Jiangsu East China

Supermarket Chain — Taicang, Jiangsu

Fresh and dry goods were supplied group by group. The feature displays and the column wraps were shaped to the store's own theme, and the bulk grain tables and rice bins were divided into cells sized to the quantities the store actually sells in.

Large Supermarket — Taicang, Jiangsu East China

Large Supermarket — Taicang, Jiangsu

The front end and the shelving were delivered in one batch. The cosmetics units and the steel-and-wood shelving were held to one colour reference and one depth of wood grain, so nothing in the store carries the mismatch a second supplier would have brought with it.

Large Supermarket — Shanghai East China

Large Supermarket — Shanghai

Delivered while the store was still being fitted out. Produce islands and dry-goods shelving were scheduled zone by zone against the floor plan, and the protective film was left on every piece until it came off together in the days before opening.

The dry goods and staples zone supplied as a set. Bin depth on the bulk food units was set by what each one had to hold, and every column wrap was measured against its own column on site before anything was cut.

Retail Customer — Germany Europe

Retail Customer — Germany

The customer found us through this website and the enquiry became an order. The bread racks were cut to the baking trays the store already uses, so a full tray drops straight into place on a restock instead of the loaves being set out one by one.

Photographs are of the goods we built for these orders. How one colour and one wood tone are held across categories that would usually come from three different suppliers is set out on our About page.

Send the floor area and a plan — a hand sketch with the wall lengths on it is enough — and we will point you at the projects closest to yours and come back with an equipment list priced against your opening date.

Match My Store

Send Your Store Size And We Will Send A Comparable Project

Four answers get the first list close: how big the store is, what kind of store it is, when it opens and whether a plan exists yet. Anything else you know brings it closer still.

Your enquiry goes to keshun@kssyt.com. Drawings, CAD files and photographs of a store you like are welcome by email; everything that helps us price a whole store is listed on our contact page.

Buyer Questions

Questions Buyers Ask Before Placing An Order

Seven questions that come up whenever a store plan turns into an equipment order. If yours is not here, send it with your plan and it gets answered along with the count.

How many checkout counters does a 1,000 m² supermarket need?

On the usual planning figure of one lane per 100 to 150 m² of sales floor, a 1,000 m² store works out at five to nine lanes. The sales floor is 750 to 850 m² once the back of house is taken out, and those two ends are where the two ends of the answer come from. Basket size stores clear customers faster and sit at the lower end; trolley size stores sit at the upper end, and the longer counters built with a conveyor belt take more frontage per lane. Send a plan and we will count it against your own store rather than an average one.

Is supermarket shelving counted by bay or by running metre?

By the bay. One bay is the section between two uprights with the shelves hung on it, and a run is built by repeating it. We count bays on a 1,000 mm module because that is the length our fresh shelving is published at per group, which makes one running metre equal one bay and saves everyone a conversion. Bays are also built at 900, 1,200 and up to 2,000 mm, and because a wall almost never divides into whole bays the last one is cut to measure.

Are the projects on this page real orders?

Yes. Every one of them was produced in our own plant at Changshu and shipped, most of them within the last two years. Customer names are commercial information and we do not publish them, so each project is identified by store type and region instead. The categories, the quantities and the way the goods were packed are as they were recorded on the order.

Can you quote a whole store from a floor plan alone?

A plan and an area get you a counted list very quickly. To put prices against it we also need the finish you want, the bay height, whether the checkout lanes take a conveyor belt, and the destination port. A hand sketch with the wall lengths written on it is enough to start and a CAD file is faster. What comes back is an equipment list with your own numbers in it, priced, together with the projects above that came closest to yours.

Can one order cover every fixture category in the store?

Yes. All twelve categories are built in our own plant at Changshu, so the front end, the fresh zone and the centre store can be held to one colour and one wood tone and shipped together. The Jinhua project at the top of this page is twelve categories in a single order. You are not obliged to take the whole list, and most first orders are one zone, but a whole store order is the case this plant is set up for.

What is the most efficient supermarket layout?

The one that matches your basket. A grid suits a large weekly-shop store; a loop suits a mid-size format; a free-flow layout suits speciality retail. What does not change is the order the departments appear in, and supermarket layout design is where the equipment list actually comes from.

How does grocery store layout design decide the equipment list?

Department by department. Once the aisles are set, each zone converts into a countable unit — bays for shelving, lanes for checkout, groups for produce — and the schedule writes itself. That conversion is why we ask for a floor plan before a product list.
