No Handles, So It Stacks Completely Flat

Every handle on a basket is something that gets in the way when the basket is not being carried. This shell has none: the grips are moulded into the body itself, so a stack is a clean column with nothing standing up, and the basket can sit on a shelf or a promotion table without a handle projecting into the aisle.

That gives it a second use most baskets do not have. Stores use these as display containers on promotion tables and produce islands, filled with the goods and simply lifted out when empty — the same crate-swap logic that governs the fixtures they sit on.

Product Description

Moulded Basket Shell without Handles

A basket shell with no separate handles at all — just integral grips moulded into the body. It stacks completely flat and doubles as a display container on a fixture.

Key Features

  • Built to your drawing rather than to a fixed configuration — length, depth, height and internal layout all follow your floor plan.
  • Cold rolled steel body with the finish carried across every category on the same order, to one RAL or PANTONE reference.
  • Manufactured in our own plant in Changshu, where steel fabrication, woodworking and stainless steel production run on one site.

Applications

Supermarkets, convenience stores, chain retail and speciality stores. Tell us the store format and the floor area and the specification comes back written against them.

What The Photographs Show

Removing the handles changes what the basket is for. These four are the consequences.

Integral Grip

Moulded into the body

The grip is part of the body moulding rather than a separate handle. Nothing stands up when the basket is set down, which is what lets it stack flat and sit on a fixture without projecting into the aisle.

Flat Stack

Nothing standing up

With no handles, the column is pure body. It is the densest stack in this range and it is why these are often ordered in quantity for a stockroom as well as the shop floor.

Display container

Set on a promotion table or a produce island it works as a display container, filled with goods and swapped out empty. It is the same crate logic the fixtures themselves use.

Rim Edge

Where hands actually go

Without a handle, the rim is what gets grabbed. It is rolled and thickened all the way round rather than only at the grip points, because in practice people pick it up from wherever they are standing.

Customisation

Every item on this page is made to order. Send a floor plan, a hand sketch or a photograph of a fixture you like, and we quote against it.

How These Baskets Leave The Factory

Store fixtures are light for their size, so a container fills up on volume long before it fills up on weight. What decides your freight is not what one unit weighs — it is what shape the goods are in when they go through the container door. Everything we build leaves in one of three shapes, and a bulk island is the one that travels best.

Flat Packed Cabinet And Shelving Panels

Shelving bays, produce islands and bulk cabinets travel as panels — uprights, shelves, back panels and plinths, strapped flat with bubble wrap on every component. They are built up on the shop floor, so the packing list and the assembly drawings travel with the goods.

Nested Trolleys And Hand Baskets

Trolleys slide into one another and baskets stack. Past the first unit, each extra one adds only its nesting pitch instead of its full length, so the shipped volume ends up a fraction of what the unit count suggests.

Fully Assembled Counters

A checkout lane is welded, coated and fitted out as one piece, so it is crated whole with padding on the steel. Nothing waits to be assembled at the store beyond levelling it into the lane, and the crate is the counter plus a margin.

Baskets stack, which makes them the densest thing we ship. A column of nested baskets is close to solid plastic, so the freight cost per basket is a fraction of anything else in this catalogue — which is why baskets are almost always added to a container that is going anyway rather than shipped on their own. We do not publish litre capacities for this range. The figures circulating for it came from an old third-party listing rather than from our own production records, and they are being confirmed with the factory first.

What Usually Travels In The Same Container

A trolley bay is part of the front of store, and what it stands next to decides how well it works.

How many of each a store needs is a floor area question rather than a product question, and it is answered store by store on the equipment lists by store size.

Buyer Questions

Questions Buyers Ask Before Ordering

The ones that come up on nearly every enquiry for this category.

Q01 Is it comfortable to carry?

Less so than a handled basket, and it is not really meant to be carried far. It is for short carries and for use as a display container on fixtures, which is where the handleless design earns its place.

Q02 Can it sit on our promotion tables?

That is one of its two jobs. Send the fixture dimensions and we will size the shell to sit properly on it rather than looking like a basket somebody left there.

Q03 Does it stack better than a handled basket?

It stacks the densest of anything in this range, because there is nothing standing up in the column. That matters for stockroom storage as much as for the shop floor.

Q04 Are the grips comfortable when it is full?

For a short carry, yes. Full and carried across a store, no — and we would rather say so. If shoppers will carry it any distance, order a handled basket.
